Thye is a Senior from Jackson, Michigan double majoring in Marketing and Political Science. In his time at Western Michigan University, Thye has been involved with the Interfraternity Council, Phi Chi Theta- A National Coed Business Fraternity, Black Student Union and has been an Orientation Student Leader as well as a Fall Welcome Ambassador. Currently, Thye serves as the President of the Western Student Association, the student body government. Thye is also an active member of Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) Fraternity and a Drive Safe Kalamazoo volunteer.

Taylor is a Senior from Southfield, MI, majoring in occupational therapy with minors in psychology and speech and hearing processes. Throughout her time here at Western, Taylor has been a part of student occupational therapy association, the Black Student Union, was a 2015 Orientation Student Leader and is a Student Activities and Leadership Programs Leadcore Intern. Taylor currently serves as the Student Affairs chair but in the past has also served as the Community Involvement chair for the Western Student Association. She is also a second year resident assistant and was a Teaching Assistant in the undergraduate psychology department.

Lucas Funk is a senior at Western Michigan University, hailing from Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan and working toward a degree in finance. Throughout his college career, he has been actively involved with student organizations such as the Sigma Chi Fraternity, the Interfraternity Council, and the Western Student Association. In the organizations with which he is involved, Lucas has held various leadership positions such as treasurer, vice president, and president. Lucas currently serves as the Community Involvement chair, in his first role as a committee chair, in which he hopes to help WSA make a lasting impact on the WMU community. Outside of WMU and the community, Lucas is most passionate about Detroit and Detroit sports, European football, TED Talks, current events, Netflix, and all types of novels.

Diana Hernandez- Garcia is a sophomore from Holland, Michigan double majoring in Spanish and Political Science. She currently serves as the Speaker Pro- Tempore for the Western Student Association as well as being a Sister and Secretary of Sigma Lambda Gamma. During her time at Western she has been involved with the Latino Student Alliance, Leadership Council, and the Lee Honors College. During her free time Diana enjoys painting, binge watching Netflix, hiking and photography.

Dominique is a Senior from Kentwood, Michigan, studying Personal Financial Planning with minors in Spanish and Comparative Religion. During her time here at western, Dominique has been involved on the Western Michigan University campus and in the Kalamazoo area. She joined the registered student organization, You Beautiful Black Woman (YBBW) her freshman year, served as the organization’s Treasurer her sophomore year, and through that organization has been able to experience countless volunteering opportunities. Dominique is also a participant in the Lee Honors College and she currently serves as the Chief of Finance and Operations for the Western Student Association. In her free time, Dominique likes to watch sports and movies, drink coffee, and spend quality time with family and friends.

I am a junior from Kalamazoo, MI, studying Political Science: Public Law with a minor in Rhetoric Writing and Legal Studies. On campus involvement has been important to me. I have been involved with WSA before as a senator. I am a member and previously held a board position for the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. I also work on campus as a Student Ambassador for the Office of Admissions. Last summer I had an amazing internship experience at the 9th Circuit Court in Downtown Kalamazoo. During rare periods of free time I love to read, swim, and laugh with family and friends.

Chiante is a Junior from Detroit, Michigan, studying Criminal Justice with a minor in Communication Studies. In her time at Western, Chiante has been involved in multiple Registered Student Organizations including Drive Safe Kalamazoo, served as a Senator for Western Student Association, Co-Chair for the Political Affairs Committee, Students Making A Change in Kalamazoo, Honor Organizations, Criminal Justice League, Democratic RSO, and much more. Chiante has also been involved on campus as a Fall Welcome Ambassador. Not just on campus but off campus, Chiante is involved with the Pratt Bar Association of Kalamazoo, Michigan State Bar Association, Former Intern at Wayne County Prosecutors’ Office and currently serves as an Intern for the Kalamazoo County Prosecutors’ Office.

Rob is a Senior from Zeeland, MI, double majoring in Marketing and Management. Prior to becoming the Academic Affairs Chair, he served as the Speaker Pro-Tempore and as a Haworth College of Business Senator for the organization. Rob is also actively involved on campus outside of WSA. He is a member of the Lee Honors College, is the Vice President of the Student Leadership Advisory Board, a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, and serves as the Speakers Coordinator for the Designed to Lead Conference. Last year, he was recognizes as the Trailblazer of the Year; an award that recognizes the top business student at Western based on academic achievement, campus involvement, and community engagement. In his free time he enjoys catching up with friends, reading, and traveling!

Nicole is a junior from Tecumseh, Michigan, majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Spanish. In her time at Western Michigan University, Nicole has been actively involved with the Chi Omega Fraternity, where she served as Chapter President during 2016. Nicole is also a Leadcorp Intern through Student Activities and Leadership Programs. Nicole has been an Orientation Student Leader, First-Year Seminar Co-Instructor, and Fall Welcome Ambassador. Nicole currently serves as the Student Affairs Chair for the Western Student Association.

Logan Brown is a sophomore from Rochester Hills, MI, and he is double majoring in Aviation Flight Science and Aviation Management and Operations. He served as a senator for the College of Aviation for a semester before becoming the Campus Sustainability Chair. Outside of WSA, he is a Medallion Scholar and is very involved in the Lee Honors College. Additionally, he is a member of Alpha Eta Rho, the aviation business fraternity. He helped start a new RSO last semester, known as “Blessings from Broncos,” which works with local elementary schools and the Blessings in a Backpack program. In his free time, he enjoys volunteering, keeping up with current events, reading, and of course, Netflix.

Moritz is a junior at Western Michigan, double major in Criminal Justice & Political Science. He is currently a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Moritz is interested in getting involvement in the community to help make it a better place for all. In his free time, Moritz loves to stay up to date in the current political landscape of the world. After graduation, he plans on working in the political field after obtaining his masters degree.

Joe Sanchez is a Sophomore from the Chicago suburb of Aurora, IL studying Aviation Management and Operations. He served as a senator for the College of Aviation during his first semester at WMU and as the Academic Affairs Chair for WSA throughout the end of the second semester in the Spring of 2016. Joe also served as the Treasurer for Western Michigan’s Campus Activities Board throughout his first year at WMU and was reelected for a second term for the 2016-2017 school year. Additionally, he serves on the WSA Allocations Committee and has volunteered through Drive Safe Kalamazoo. Joe is a brother of Pi Kappa Phi and served as a Fall Welcome Ambassador for the 2016-2017 school year. He also enjoys being dedicated to the College of Aviation as an Aviation Student Ambassador. He is an avid runner and enjoys traveling and reading in Spanish during his free time.

Dylan Martin is a junior in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences from Grandville, MI studying computer science. While at Western, Dylan has been involved in the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta and serves as Historian on the chapter’s executive board and also manages the chapter website. Dylan also plays middle blocker and right side hitter for the WMU Men’s Club Volleyball Team. Aside from school, he enjoys watching sports, being outdoors, playing video games, and spending time with friends.

Malcolm McCants is a Senior from Detroit, MI studying Public Relations and Business Management. During his time at WMU, Malcolm has been involved in many organizations. The most recent being his role as Vice President of the Gamma Beta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and has served as the Public Relations chair since the 2016 Spring Semester.
